Colleen is a scientist turned communicator whose journey began as a curious kid poking around tidepools, spying on birds with a field guide, and coming home with a pocket full of rocks. (She still does all of that.)
That passion led her to earn a degree in Earth and Ocean Sciences from Duke University, with a minor in Environmental Science and Policy. After beginning her career as a geologist, she soon realized science is only as powerful as its ability to connect and transitioned to a science communication career that bridges education, design, and advocacy.
For the past 15 years, she’s brought science to life through strategic communications, creative writing, exhibit and graphic design, print media, marketing, and public campaigns. From nonprofits to cultural institutions to government agencies, her work helps organizations translate complex ideas into clear, compelling stories. At Green Nautilus Creative, she blends curiosity, accessibility, and creativity to connect science with the people it’s meant to serve.
When she’s not speaking science, Colleen enjoys exploring with her husband, two dogs, and a good cup of tea.
